CASBHC Shares "What Happens to School-Based Health Care When Schools Close?"

A recent article shared by our friends at Colorado Association for School-Based Health Care explains the vital services SBHCs provide for children at this crucial time. Although our current state may be rapidly changing, children at home are often forgotten about. Although the effects of COVID-19 can seem nothing more than an extended holiday for students, the crippling effects it has on many are very real.


Not only do school districts have to scramble to adjust to distance learning, students also have to adapt to this large change. Beyond academics, many children rely on school settings to fulfill their basic needs; food, safety, and mental well-being are just some of these.


SBHCs are working hard to ensure students that they are being supported during this time. Direct messages by phone and email are being sent out as reassurance and telehealth practices are increasing. Whether these practices will remain widespread in the future remains.
