After Mayor Bill de Blasio announces all NYC public school closures until April 20th, school districts scramble to pick up the pieces. Access to child care and school lunches are two common concerns among many parents.
Long Island's county executives recently stated they were working alongside school districts to provide meals for students in need. Similarly, they are in the midst of developing plans to make child care available for the many children of healthcare workers. As the number of confirmed cases continues to rise, officials across the state discuss the next steps to make this transition as smooth as it can be- all while providing adequate care to the hundreds of children and families it will effect.
